A life in the midst of mental health problems isn’t just about dealing with strange sensations and emotional pain. It’s about building strong bonds with loved ones, sharing hopes, creating meaning together, transforming through experience and discovering one’s power to influence destiny. Whether we are the people affected, family members or care and social professionals, we are all citizens, all alike, but all different and unique. But social psychiatry is also deeply rooted in scientific knowledge, which extracts itself from individual specificities. On the contrary, it generalizes methods that have been shown to be effective for the greatest number of people. How, then, can we embrace the immense complexity of life with both method and freedom?
On this day, we’d like to celebrate the curiosity, inventiveness and rigor at the heart of social psychiatry, passed down through the career of Professor Jérôme Favrod, a true pioneer of psychosocial nursing care.
This event is organized under the aegis of the Société Suisse de Psychiatrie Sociale SO-PSY, the Service de Psychiatrie Communautaire DP-CHUV, Horizon Sud, Re-pairs and the Laboratoire d’Enseignement et de Recherche en Santé Mentale et Psychiatrie (LER-SMP) at La Source.
The detailed program will be announced shortly.
